Historic Plaster-Making & Restoring Decorative Plaster is a fun and intense, three-day, hands-on, learn by doing, total immersion experience in historic plaster molding creation and repair.

Students will learn state-of-the-art techniques in mold making, casting & mixing plaster. You will also learn to create straight runs of plaster moldings. How these decorative plaster elements are installed will also be taught. This is an entirely hands-on shop & field class.

Corey Wallis, from Iowa, will be your instructor. Corey has over 30 years’ experience in all facets of the trade. Including traditional plaster repair, patching, skim coats, drywall repair, exterior stucco, decorative plaster molding creation & restoration, ornamental & cove work. His family history in the plaster trade goes back generations.

Making Wooden Storm Doors is a fun and intense, three-day, hands-on learning experience. Students will learn how to make traditional wooden storm doors. You will be part of a team building exterior storm doors for the circa 1859 historic Lamb-Munger Mansion in the Central Park National Historic District in Hannibal, Missouri.

This is a tuition-based class with a limit of 8 students. You will be working side-by-side all three days in the shop with instructor Bob Yapp. Bob has been a woodworker and furniture designer/maker for 53 years.

Too often in our society fathers tend to spend more time teaching their sons how to think in a so-called “handy” way.

As instructor and owner of The Belvedere School, Bob Yapp says, “This is really unfortunate. In truth, when women are given the opportunity to learn this way of thinking, their skills almost always exceed men’s. Our goal for this class is not to discriminate against men, they’re just not invited.”

You will be a part of a team of interesting and interested women learning a variety of old house maintenance skills at the school’s headquarters, the historic Lamb-Munger Mansion in the Central Park National Historic District in Hannibal, Missouri.

Students will learn state-of-the-art techniques in re-attaching loose plaster back to the wood lath and how to mix & patch historic plaster & cracks properly. You will be part of a team of students restoring original plaster in a property located in the Central Park National Historic District in Hannibal, Missouri.
