Description
Too often it just seems easier to rip out the old and replace exterior materials on old and historic properties with new products. This urban legend is just not true.
For historic property owners this will often diminish the value of their property and cost them more money than repairing original exterior wood. Cost effective preservation of exterior wood components is an excellent way to keep your properties integrity and save money.
Bob Yapp, author, teacher and nationally known old house expert will be the instructor. Students will learn the techniques used to preserve original, exterior wood components. You will learn how to repair & install wood siding, repair rotted trim, sills, and other a wooden architectural features rather than replacing.
Architectural epoxies as well as making real wood “dutchman” repairs to original wood surfaces will be the major focus of the workshop. Up to 8 participants. Two days of fun & intense, hands-on field learning.
Homeowners, small contractors, preservation staff, preservation commission members, hp students, architects and historic building owners will all benefit from this hands-on, traditional training event. All skill levels are encouraged to sign up. Each student will receive a “Certificate of Completion”.
Tuition for this two-day workshop is $495 and includes fresh ground morning coffee, snacks, beverages and a home cooked lunch. Space is limited to 8 students and pre-registration is required.
Affordable hotels as well as bed & breakfast inns are available for out of town students. For students registering early, we have discounted rooms available here at our inn, The Belvedere Inn.
