Students will learn state-of-the-art techniques in mold making, casting & mixing plaster. You will also learn to create straight runs of plaster moldings. How these decorative plaster elements are installed will also be taught. This is an entirely hands-on shop & field class.
Corey Wallis, from Iowa, will be your instructor. Corey has over 30 years’ experience in all facets of the trade. Including traditional plaster repair, patching, skim coats, drywall repair, exterior stucco, decorative plaster molding creation & restoration, ornamental & cove work. His family history in the plaster trade goes back generations.
The goal is to repair, recreate, and preserve the integrity of plaster moldings in existing historic buildings while empowering staff, owners and contractors with the skill set necessary to achieve the longest lasting and accurate results possible.
This is a tuition-based class with a limit of 8 students. This will be an intense, learn-by-doing opportunity.
At the end of the three days you will know from beginning to end, how to make & completely repair historic decorative plaster and receive pertinent handouts as well as a “Certificate of Completion” from the Belvedere School.
